Based on her 2003 game The Angel of Darkness, The Action Adventure pits Lara against the villainous Black Alchemist in a race to recover five legendary paintings and discover the identity of the person responsible for killing her mentor; as usual, there are plenty of shootouts, hair's-breath escapes, and daredevil stunts for Lara to surpass before she achieves her goal. Game control for both single and two-player games is quite easy--the remote's UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, and ENTER buttons do all the work, and players are given a choice of options before each action that will hopefully steer Lara clear of danger (of course, the wrong choice ends in her demise, but the game does track back to a prior scene in order to allow one to try again). Longtime Lara Croft aficionados may find The Action Adventure a tad simplistic, but for those looking to experience the game for the first time or to explore iDVD technology, it's an unquestionably entertaining game. --Paul Gaita
